Sources and confidence

Manufacturer-specific PIDs are easy to get wrong. This catalog never treats a forum post as equal to SAE J1979. Each published claim should carry a source and a confidence level.

1. Tier A — official standards

   SAE J1979, ISO 15031-5, ISO 14229. Highest trust for generic (emissions) PIDs.

2. Tier B — documented community and app exports

   Named exports, vehicle-specific lists with a clear origin. Useful, marked medium until verified.

3. Tier C — tips and reverse notes

   Visitor tips stay pending. They become catalog rows only after curator review.
